HBCU Recruitment Fair is Back September 17th

The HBCU Recruitment Fair is coming September 17.

What is The HBCU Recruitment Fair?:  The Historically Black Colleges & University Recruitment Fair is an exciting event for our students. A cohort of 35+ HBCU representatives attend the College Recruitment Fair. The fair is a College Fair environment where students visit each university representative. Seniors can be offered “on the spot” acceptance to university/ies, waived application fees (Apply for FREE) & on the spot Scholarships. Students are celebrated!

Who Attends: 11th & 12th graders from SJUSD High Schools

Date: Thursday, September 17, 2026

Time: 1:30-3:30

Where: El Camino High School Gym

Food: Pizza will be served to students upon arrival to El Camino

What to bring: 10 unofficial transcripts & questions (sites decide how to manage this/Jeannine & Tracie will print transcripts at the fair as well for last minute student sign-ups & if students need more transcripts)

Transportation: Buses are provided by the Equity Office for students to ride to the fair if they fill out a permission slip. OR students can attend the HBCU Recruitment Fair separately from the school if the parent/guardian checks the student out of school and the student has their own transportation to the site. The students do not fill out a permission slip if they are attending on their own.

Process for Students

  1. Sign up for the college fair using the QR code (look at the QR code below and on the flyer):

  2. If the student is riding the bus, they will pick up the permission slip and turn in the permission slip per the chaperone instructions.
